An Approximate Approach for Area Coverage in Wireless Sensor Networks
In Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs), coverage is a critical issue that has a major bearing on the quality of sensing over the target region. In this paper, we study the coverage of a region P with a transparent boundary and transparent obstacles. A transparent obstacle is an area in which a sensor cannot be deployed but through which sensing signals can pass. For cost-effectiveness, our problem ...
متن کاملAn Adaptive Congestion Alleviating Protocol for Healthcare Applications in Wireless Body Sensor Networks: Learning Automata Approach
Wireless Body Sensor Networks (WBSNs) involve a convergence of biosensors, wireless communication and networks technologies. WBSN enables real-time healthcare services to users. Wireless sensors can be used to monitor patients’ physical conditions and transfer real time vital signs to the emergency center or individual doctors. Wireless networks are subject to more packet loss and congestion. T...
متن کاملClassification and Comparison of Methods for Discovering Coverage Loss Areas in Wireless Sensor Networks
In recent years, wireless sensor networks data is taken into consideration as an ideal source, in terms of speed, accuracy and cost, in order to study the Earth's surface. One of the most important challenges in this area, is the signaling network coverage and finding holes. In recent years, wireless sensor networks data is taken into consideration as an ideal source, in terms of speed, accurac...
متن کاملAn Energy Efficient Clustering Method using Bat Algorithm and Mobile Sink in Wireless Sensor Networks
Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) consist of sensor nodes with limited energy. Energy efficiency is an important issue in WSNs as the sensor nodes are deployed in rugged and non-care areas and consume a lot of energy to send data to the central station or sink if they want to communicate directly with the sink. Recently, the IEEE 802.15.4 protocol is employed as a low-power, low-cost, and low rat...
متن کاملImproving area coverage of wireless sensor networks via controllable mobile nodes: A greedy approach
Reliable wide–area monitoring with Wireless Sensor Networks (WSNs) remains a problem of interest: simply deploying more nodes to cover wider areas is generally not a viable solution, due to deployment and maintenance costs and the increase in radio interference. One possible solution gaining popularity is based on the use of a reduced number of mobile nodes with controllable trajectories in the...
